Juba Conference (1947)

The Juba Conference, (also called Juba Conference), held on 12 and 13 June 1947 in Juba South Sudan in today held under the official designation Sudan Administration Conference.

At this conference, the then British colonial power and representatives of North Sudan decided the unification of North and South Sudan, South Sudan without representatives were present. Here, the North, the South is characterized mainly black African and Christian- animist, whereas essentially Islamic and Arabic for the most part.

This conference was intended to prevent the disintegration of Sudan into small, weak regions. In particular, the representatives of North Sudan wanted a strong state for the approaching independence.
