Judaica Foundation – Center For Jewish Culture

The Judaica Foundation (Polish: fundacja Judaica - Centrum Kultury Żydowskiej ) is a Jewish cultural center in Kraków's Kazimierz district. It was founded in 1991 after the idea was for it developed in the 1980s, together with the President of the Jewish community in Krakow.

History

Was born in 1993 in the former house of prayer Bne Emuna on Plac Żydowski ( " Jewish space " ) in Krakow, the Center for Jewish Culture. The house was built in the 1980s. It served religious functions, but degenerated over time. Only in 1993 it was renovated by the help of various organizations. Today it serves as a place for seminars, lectures and exhibitions of the Center for Jewish Culture, as the Aleksander and Alicja Hetz Annual Memorial Lecture and the Settimana della Cultura Ebraica, organized jointly with the Italian Cultural Institute in Cracow.

Objectives

The aim is to preserve the Jewish heritage in Kraków's Kazimierz district, to provide a forum for Polish-Jewish dialogue and young people to open up the history and Jewish culture. To this end, among other things, meetings and lectures with Polish and Jewish scholars, artists, and survivors of the Holocaust are organized.
