Juergen M. Geissinger

Juergen M. Geissinger ( born July 24, 1959 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German business leaders. He was from 1 November 1998 until October 4, 2013 Chairman of the Board, based in the Herzogenaurach Schaeffler Group, a bearing manufacturer and supplier to the automotive industry, with around 76,000 employees worldwide ( 2012), of which about 28,000 employees in Germany and an annual turnover of 11.1 billion euros (2012 ).

Life

Career

After his graduation in 1979 Geißinger studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart. From 1985, he was first employed as a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation in Stuttgart, the last two years as department head. In 1989 he graduated as Dr.-Ing. From 1991, he was briefly employed at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.

In 1992 he went to ITT Automotive, where he began as director of the Division Production Technology Auburn Hills (USA ), 1994 Head of the Electronic Brake Systems was 1996 Managing the entire business unit brake systems, 1997 CEO of ITT Industries Europe (Hamburg ), Senior Vice President of ITT Automotive ( Auburn Hills ) and Officer of ITT Industries, White Plains (USA).

On the part of IG Metall Geissinger has been criticized for its rigorous enforcement of longer working hours and financial losses for the workers associated cost reduction programs.

Family

Geissinger has two younger brothers. He is married, father of twins, and lives with his family near Stuttgart. In earlier years he was coach of a handball team.
