Juergen Penker

Jürgen Penker ( born October 17, 1982 in Bregenz) is an Austrian professional ice hockey goaltender. He is since 2011 at HK Nitra in the Slovak Extraliga under contract.

Career

Jürgen Penker began his career in the various youth teams of EHC Lustenau and came in the season 1999/ 00 to the first missions in the first team, which was still active in the top division at that time. After a season with local rivals VEU Feldkirch in 2004 he joined the EC Red Bull Salzburg, who was after winning the National League Championship before his first Bundesliga season. There, however, found Rob Talla's not the hoped-for benefits and was released early, so Penker took over the position of first goalkeeper. The following season, he was taken by the Vienna Capitals under contract. Again was the first goalkeeper Jeff Maund, not convince them, but this time Penker could not take over his position as Walter Bartholomew was able to convince with very good results.

In summer 2006, he joined the EHC Linz, where they were looking for him and Patrick Machreich an Austrian solution to the target. After he was still backing up Machreich in the first season, he took over in the 2007/ 08 season with outstanding performances Mach Empire position. In the 2008 /09 season Penker was nevertheless replaced by Alex Westlund, which the team had already committed to a time when Penker services were not yet in sight. Penker then moved for the first time in his career abroad and signed a contract with the Danish first division club Totempo HvIK, where he performed well and was subsequently committed during the season by the Swedish team Rögle BK. The 2010/11 season he spent with his former club Vienna Capitals. For the 2011/12 season he was obliged by HK Nitra in the Slovak Extraliga. For family reasons Penker moved in December 2013 to the Vienna Capitals.

Internationally

Jürgen Penker represented his country at the World Ice Hockey Championship in 2005 as well as in B- World Cup in Innsbruck in 2008 and promotion to the A group. In the 2009 World Cup, he was back behind Bernd Brückler.
