Jules Guesde

Jules Bazile called Jules Guesde, ( born November 11, 1845 in Paris, † July 28, 1922 in Saint- Mandé, Seine, now Val- de -Marne ) was a French politician.

Jules Guesde spread through his newspaper L' Egalite (1877-1883) Marxist ideas in France. He founded in 1882 with Paul Lafargue Parti Ouvrier, which renamed itself in 1893 in Parti Ouvrier français.

In 1893 he was elected as a deputy for Roubaix. He considered himself a collectivist, internationalist and revolutionary. In 1899 he turned to the question of participation in the civil government of Waldeck- Rousseau and Jean Jaurès.

1902 merged his party with several others on the Socialist Party français. At the International Socialist Congress of Amsterdam in 1904 his theories have had great success, but in France won the view expressed by the majority tendency Jaurès. 1905 merged the Parti Socialiste de France (ex -parti Ouvrier français) and the Parti Socialiste français, to establish the Section Française de l' International ouvrière ( SFIO ).

Despite its theoretical positions was Guesde 1914-1916 ( cabinets Viviani and Briand ) Minister and represented during the First World War nationalist positions.
