Julia Hamari

Julia ( Julia ) Hamari ( born November 21, 1942 in Budapest) is a Hungarian song, oratorio and opera singer in the vocal range mezzo- soprano and alto. She was one of the most important song and oratorio singers of her generation. Artistic work

Julia Hamari learned in early childhood piano. She studied at the Budapest Academy of Music. Their music teachers were Fatima Martins and Jeno Sipos. The trained graduate singer and singing teacher continued her studies at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart (now the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart ) away.

There she sang alongside Grace Bumbry, Jon Vickers and Mirella Freni the role of Mercedes in the opera Carmen. A year later she sang Carmen at the Stuttgart Opera. During the season 1973/1974 she was a member of the Deutsche Oper Rhine. Here she sang great roles in their field.

Julia Hamari guested on known opera stages in Germany and abroad, including in Milan, Munich, London, Paris, Vienna, Madrid, Dallas, New York, San Francisco and Cologne. Her operatic repertoire included Cherubino, Dorabella, Despina, Carmen, Octavia, Rosina and Hansel.

1989 Julia Hamari was appointed Professor of Singing at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. She holds master classes at home and abroad. Many of her students are now themselves known singers like Regine Hermann, Katja Boost, Peter Schüler, Kathrin Koch, Marion Eckstein, Sarah Dirkens and Patrick Van Goethem.
