Julia Jones (conductor)

Julia Jones ( born April 28, 1961 in Droitwich, England) is a British conductor.

Life

Julia Jones was educated partly due to the Chetham's School of Music Manchester, University of Bristol and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Mid-1980s, Jones left their homeland. In Germany they put through their work as an accompanist at the Cologne Opera and the Stuttgart State Theatre, the foundation for a successful career as a conductor. From 1991 to 1995 she was second Kapellmeister and Assistant Music Director Alicja Mounk in Ulm. From 1995 to 1997 it was first Kapellmeister at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. After several successful guest conductor in 1998 she moved as chief conductor of the opera at the Theater Basel. From the season 2008 / 09-2011 Julia Jones was the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa Titulardirigentin in Lisbon.

In June 2010, she led a performance of La damnation de Faust Legend dramatique by Hector Berlioz at the Frankfurt Opera in Frankfurt am Main. In the same year, she first conducted an opera performance at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London.

In March 2011, Julia Jones made ​​her debut at the Semperoper Dresden with Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio, and in April 2011 as conductor of the Staatskapelle Dresden in an orchestra concert.
