Julián Berrendero

Julián Martín Berrendero ( born April 8, 1912 in San Agustín del Guadalix, † September 1, 1995 in Madrid) was a Spanish cyclist.

Its origin near the Sierra de Guadarrama predestined Julián Berrendero to the mountain specialists. His greatest successes came in the Vuelta. He won this tour in 1941 and 1942. 1945 and 1946, he came in second. Overall, he won 11 Vuelta stages. 1942 and 1945 he won the mountain stage of the Vuelta. Added to this is a 4th and a 6th place in the overall standings. As early as 1936, in his second year as a professional, he first took part in the Tour de France and immediately won the mountains classification and the 11th place in the overall standings. In 1937, he was even able to win a Tour de France stage, finishing in 15th place in the overall standings. Numerous victories in regional tours and one-day race in Spain round off his track record, which would certainly have been even greater without the Second World War. In his 1935 lasting until 1949 career won Julián Berrendero also three times the Spanish league on the road and twice in cyclo-cross.
