Julio Rosales

Julio Cardinal Rosales y Ras ( born September 18, 1906 in Calbayog, Philippines, † June 2, 1983 in Cebu ) was Archbishop of Cebu.

Life

Julio Rosales y Ras studied at the Seminary of Calbayog Catholic theology and received on 2 June 1929, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He then worked until 1946 as a parish pastor in the diocese Calboyog.

On June 22, 1946, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Bishop of Tagbilaran, on 17 December 1949 for the Archbishop of Cebu. Julio Rosales y Ras participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council. On April 28, 1969 took him by Pope Paul VI. as cardinal priest with the titular church of Sacro Cuore di Gesù agonizzante a Vitinia to the College of Cardinals. On August 24, 1982 Pope John Paul II took his in accordance with the Code of Canon Law for reasons of age pre- mounted resignation. Julio Rosales y Ras died on 2 June 1983 in Cebu and was buried in the local cathedral.
