Juliomys

Juliomys is a rodent species from the group of the New world. The genus was erected only in 2000 and includes three species that live in the southeastern South America.

There are relatively small representative of the New world, their fur is reddish in color at the top, the underside is lighter. They are mainly arboreal, otherwise little is known about their way of life.

There are three types:

  • Juliomys pictipes is in Southeast Brazil (São Paulo and Santa Catarina ) and northeastern Argentina ( Misiones ) spread. The species was formerly classified in the genus Wilfredomys.
  • Juliomys rimofrons was first described in 2002 is only from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais known.
  • Juliomys ossitenius was first described in 2007. The species is distributed from Espírito Santo to São Paulo.

Little is known about the level of danger of the species. The IUCN cites J. pictipes only and lists the species as not at risk.
