Julius Brandt

Julius Brandt ( born March 5, 1873 in Olomouc, † December 26, 1949 in Vienna ) was an Austrian actor, theater director, film director and screenwriter.

Life

The son of a bandmaster received a vocal and acting training. He made his debut in 1890 in Innsbruck. After that he acted in Klagenfurt and 1892 at the Royal Municipal Theatre in Olomouc. The next stage stations were Dresden, Teplice, Linz and Salzburg.

In the fall of 1898, he made ​​her first appearance in Vienna at the local Carl theater. In 1900 he played in Hamburg at the German National Theatre, where he eventually rose to the theater manager. In 1911, he returned as an actor and director of the Upper cabaret premises hell back to Vienna. In 1912 he moved to the residence stage.

This year, the 39 -year-old gave his film debut in the production Musikantenlene. He moved to Germany and tried with little success as a serial criminal Charly Bill in several films. Soon he received only small to very small roles, so he turned his attention to the theater work, where he was mainly active as a director.

In 1937 he went to Vienna, where he received the film initially lead roles, as in Haydn's last visitors (1939 ) as the title character Joseph Haydn. He has written screenplays, led exceptionally directed and stand up to his death in 1949 before the camera.
