Julius Dreschfeld

Julius Dreschfeld ( born October 13, 1845 in Niederwerrn, † June 13, 1907 in Withington, Manchester ) was a German - British physician and pathologist in Manchester.

Life

Born to Jewish parents in Bavaria, he attended school in Bamberg. In 1861 he went to live with a relative in Manchester. After visiting the Owens College, he studied medicine at the Manchester Royal School of Medicine. In 1864 he went to the Julius -Maximilians -Universität Würzburg and received his doctorate in 1867 with a dissertation on Albert von Bezold Dr. med.

In the German War he served in the Bavarian army. In 1867 he was Corp. loop carrier at Franconia Wuerzburg.

In 1870, he returned to Manchester and worked from 1873 to 1907 at the Royal Infirmary. In 1883 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. At the Victoria University of Manchester, he was Professor of Pathology (1881-1891) and Medicine ( 1891-1907 ). He examined ( such as Louis Pasteur ), the hydrophobicity and diabetic ketoacidosis.
