Julius Frederick, Duke of Württemberg-Weiltingen

Julius Friedrich of Württemberg- Weiltingen ( born June 3, 1588 Mömpelgard, † April 25, 1635 in Strasbourg ) was Duke of Württemberg- founder and Weiltingen.

Life

Julius Friedrich was the third son of Duke Friedrich I of Württemberg and his wife Sibylla of Anhalt. He grew up with his parents and siblings in Montbéliard. After the government takeover of his father in 1593, the prince lived in Stuttgart. He participated in military operations in Alsace and also took part at the Jülich Succession. Julius Friedrich traveled extensively, including to Asia Minor, Malta and Ephesus and 1615 Lapland.

On May 28, 1617 received in Prince Fraternal compared the reigns Weiltingen and Brenz and a teaching load of the reign Heidenheim awarded to a yearly appanage of 15,000 guilders. Julius Friedrich took office in Weiltingen and led from 1631 the regent for his nephew Eberhard III.

On November 24, 1617, he completed the marriage contract with Princess Anna Sabina von Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg ( 1593-1659 ), whom he married in Sonderborg on December 11, 1618. After marriage he moved first to Brenz, then later to the castle Weiltingen. 1631 he participated in the Leipzig Convention had this covenant but in the Treaty of Tübingen to the cherry renounce war again. He eventually joined the advancing Gustav Adolf of Sweden and raised again from troops. This led to contradictions with the Government, the Estates and the co-ruler Julius Friedrich, Barbara Sophia of Brandenburg, the mother of Eberhard III. In 1633 he renounced the regency in Württemberg.

After the Battle of Nördlingen Julius Friedrich fled with the whole of Württemberg - ducal family to Strasbourg, where he died the following year.
