Junagadh ( Gujarati: જુનાગઢ, Junagadh, before 1947 also called Sorath ) is a city in the Indian state of Gujarat, with approximately 320,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). It is the administrative seat of the district of Junagadh.

Location

Junagadh is located at the foot of the Girnar mountains on the peninsula of Kathiawar about 780 kilometers by road north-west of Mumbai. Up to Ahmedabad, capital of Gujarat there are about 320 km in a north-easterly direction. History
