June Hutton

June Hutton ( born August 11, 1920 in Chicago, † May 2, 1973 in Encino, California ) was an American singer.

She was the half-sister of Ina Ray Hutton and sang from the end of the 1930s in the orchestra (as Elaine Merritt ). From 1941 she sang as a member of the vocal group The Stardusters Charlie Spivak Orchestra, with whom she performed in the film Pin Up Girl with Betty Grable. From 1944 she was a member of the Pied Pipers, with whom she had several hits (particularly Dream). 1944 appeared from her a solo recording with the orchestra of Paul Weston. In 1950, she left the Pipers and pursued a solo career and recorded for Decca and from 1952 for Capitol Records. 1953, she had three hits in the charts (Say You're Mine Again, No Stone Unturned, For the First Time ).

In 1951 she married the bandleader and arranger Axel Stordahl, whom she had seen at their regular appearances in the TV show by Frank Sinatra in 1951. Stordahl also launched the backup orchestra for many of their recordings at Capitol. In 1957 she made ​​her last recordings for the label TOPS and then retired from the stage.

She is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park ( Glendale ) next to her husband.
