Jupe (jacket)

Jupe is the French word ( of Arabic origin ) for rock and referred to in the 18th and 19th century, the skirt that is worn under a robe, in contrast to the dress skirt ( lower part of a one-piece dress ) and petticoat ( undergarment ). A complete suit of a woman of the 18th century consists of the Jupe, the connector used on the corset and the like a coat worn over robe ( manteau ) - or from Jupe and jacket.

The word Jupe usually carries the masculine article (which, less commonly, the Jupe ), has the same origin as German Joppe.

For infant clothing include the Jüpchen that is worn over the shirt.
