Jura–Bern–Lucerne Railway

The Jura -Bern -Luzern -Bahn (JBL ) is a former railway company in Switzerland.

History

The JBL had a short life span of about eight years.

On July 1, 1884 merged the two tracks Bernese Jura (JB ) and the Bern -Luzern -Bahn (BLB ) and gave the new railway company the name Jura -Bern -Luzern -Bahn.

Since August 25, 1886, the railway also built on the Brünigbahn and was able to open on June 14, 1888 the first 44 km section of Alpnachstad over the Brünigpass to Brienz and on 1 June 1889 section of Alpnachstad to Lucerne.

But already on the January 1, 1891, the company merged with a year earlier founded Chemins de fer du Jura -Simplon or short Jura -Simplon -Bahn (JS), of the one of the previous tracks of 1902 created Swiss Federal Railways (SBB ).
