Jurga IvanauskaitÄ—

Ivanauskaitė Jurga ( born November 14, 1961 in Vilnius, † February 17, 2007 in Vilnius) was a Lithuanian writer.

Ivanauskaitė published several novels, essays and travel reports published in daily newspapers.

In her book The rain witch she described the look at repression exposed by conventional methods in the eras the story of three women in very different times, and their love for special men can not be met. The novel is set in modern Vilnius shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union, in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus and in the medieval rural Lithuania. The critical examination of the Catholic faith had prepared the author in her native land issues. The rain witch was filmed under the direction of Algimatas Puipa entitled Nuodėmės užkalbėjimas 2007.

In her later life Ivanauskaitė turned to Buddhism and devoted himself to Tibet. With the novel placebo she returned thematically back to their homeland and the current time. Jurga Ivanauskaitė died 45 years old of cancer ( sarcoma).
