Jürgen Schröder (water polo)

Jürgen Schröder ( born December 16, 1960 in Hamm ) is a retired German water polo player, who won an Olympic bronze medal and 1981 European champion.

Schroeder played for SC Rote Erde Hamm, with whom he was in 1979 and 1984, German Vice Champion. In 1981 he was part of the German national team, with whom he won the 1981 title at the European Championships. At the World Cup 1982 in Guayaquil, the German team took third place. At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, the German team was a co-favorite, winning the bronze medal behind the Yugoslavs and the American hosts, the team the only Olympic medal win after 1945.

Jürgen Schröder was an attacking midfielder, he completed a total of 100 caps for the Federal Republic of Germany.
