Just in sequence

The concept of just-in- sequence production (short- JIS ) or sequence synchronicity ( = sequence- synchronous production ) refers to a concept of procurement logistics. It is a development of just-in -time production (JIT ).

Description

In the provision by the JIS method, the supplier not only ensure that the required modules are delivered on time in the right amount, but also that the sequence ( engl. sequence) agrees with the required modules provides. JIS is mainly used in the automotive industry. The lead time is depending on the production system for several days to a few minutes. For control of JIS Sequence inlining systems are used. Depending on the lead time is therefore the possible distance between supplier and customer.

As an example of a JIS delivery the final assembly of motor vehicles can be considered. By placing the painted bodies to the final assembly line, the order of the vehicles is established, which is also known as a ' string of pearls '. If, for example, the mirrors provided by JIS delivery, these are already sorted in the order of the vehicles on the assembly line. The staff in the assembly automatically takes the mirror only in order to access from the transport container and has the mirrors in the corresponding color of the vehicle in hand. Applications of this delivery form, usually in parts, depending on the configuration of the to be built vehicle ( saProduktkonfiguration ) can vary greatly - such as bumpers, car seats, interior trim, doors, cockpit, etc. - because the camps of all variants too costly and too much would take up space.

By sorting the delivered modules, an additional communication overhead is needed. Need JIS deliveries, as well as the JIT deliveries, direct contact between buyers and suppliers, which generally means an EDI system in the data logs EDIFACT, Odette and VDA there anyway ( for JIS in particular VDA 4916 ) and only one adjustment the company's software needs.
