Justin Perkins

Justin Perkins ( born March 5, 1805 in Holyoke (Massachusetts ), † December 31, 1869 in Chicopee ( Massachusetts)) was an American Presbyterian missionary and linguist.

He grew up on his father's farm, attended Amherst College and Andover Newton Theological School and was ordained in 1833. Shortly after, he sailed as a missionary of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions to Persia, where he founded in 1835 a mission house in Urmia.

He had part in the founding of modern Syriac language.
