Justin Brooks Verlander ( born February 20, 1983 in Manakin Sabot, Virginia ) is a Major League Baseball starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers.
Verlander was ever drafted as the second overall pick by the Tigers in the first round of the MLB Draft in 2004. In 2006 he was named American League Rookie of the Year. Moreover, it was Verlander 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 part of the American League All-Star team. Since his rookie year in 2006 Verlander is still an integral part of the rotation of the Tigers.
On June 12, 2007, he pitched a no-hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers by scoring 12 strikeouts and only four walks gave. This was the first no-hitter in 2000 built Comerica Park, home to the Detroit Tigers. It was also only the sixth no-hitter of a tiger - pitcher in the history of the club.
