Justus Radius

Justus Wilhelm Martin radius ( born November 14, 1797 in Leipzig, † March 7, 1884 ) was a German pathologist.

Life

Radius was born in 1797 in Leipzig. He attended the Thomas School in Leipzig. He studied from 1816 Medicine, 1820 Master's and a doctorate in 1821 for Dr. med Since 1821 he was a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. Radius habilitated 1822. In 1825 he became an associate professor of hygiene and general pathology at the University of Leipzig. He also worked as a freelance and ophthalmologist. In addition, he was part of the 1843 Chair of psychological therapy. From 1832 to 1853 he worked in Leipzig Hospital St. Georg. In 1840, he eventually became a full professor of pathology.

In 1887 the new building of the Leipzig Conservatory was built with the help of a foundation radius.

Honors

In 1910, the radius of road was named a residential street in the Lindenau district after him.
