K's Choice

K's Choice is a Belgian band around singer Sarah Bettens, founded in 1992 under the name The Choice. Musically, the band was influenced among others by the Indigo Girls, and REM K's Choice regarded as one of the most successful bands in Belgium.

History

Sarah Bettens began as a solo singer and was in Belgium in 1992 a first minor hit with their cover version of Hank Williams piece I'm so lonesome i could cry. When she was offered a contract she formed with her brother Gert Bettens the band The Choice. With the help of studio musicians, the first album The Great Subconscious Club was recorded, which was sold after the release in Europe in 1994 by Sony Music in the United States. It was followed by the first tour where the band Morphine in France, Great Britain and The Proclaimers in Germany and the U.S., the Indigo Girls acted as the opening act. Due to the increased awareness in America, the U.S. band The Choice to the same group was attentive and prohibited the use of the name, whereupon the band - in allusion to the protagonist of Franz Kafka's The Process - renamed K's Choice.

After the release of their second album, Paradise In Me with the greatest success of the band Not An Addict K's Choice played at various European festivals and excited while the attention of Alanis Morissette, with which they went in the sequence 1996 stadium tour in America.

The third album, Cocoon Crash was recorded together with the music producer Gil Norton, 1998. The European tour for this album had to be postponed to the following year, as Gert Bettens was suffering from glandular fever. In 2000, the band released their fourth album Almost Happy and had an appearance in the episode Double Gangland series Buffy - The Vampire Slayer, in which she sang the song Virgin State of Mind. Following the release of a live and a best-of album and extensive tours throughout America, Europe and Australia, the Group decided to take a break in 2003. Sarah Bettens began a solo career and in 2005 released her first solo album, Scream and 2007 their second album Shine. Gert Bettens also continued to struggle with music. He produced, among others, an album of Venus in Flames and released the albums Good Morning Hope ( 2005) and Comet (2007) with his new band Wood Face.

In March 2008, Sarah and Gert played for the first time since the beginning of their time out of four concerts as part of the k 's Choice unplugged! mini club tour in 2008. On 7 August 2009 were K's Choice in Belgium on the Folk Festival Dranouter. This show was advertised on the band's website as the first live appearance since 2003.
