Ka (Kana)

か, in Hiragana, orカin katakana are Japanese characters of kana system, or listen to the hiragana and katakana writing systems. They represent both a Mora. In the modern Japanese alphabetical order they are in sixth place. Theかis also the 14th letter in Iroha, immediately after and beforeわよ. In the Gojūon table ( sorted by columns from left to right) standsかin the second column (か行, " column Ka " ) and in the first row (あ段, "Series A"). Both represent [ ka ] dar.

Derivation

The shape of both Kana is derived from the Kanji加. This is pronounced in modern standard Chinese as jia1, in Korean as ka.

Variants

The Kana can use the Dakuten toがin Hiragana, Katakanaガ, and thus ga in the Hepburn system expanded. The phonetic value is modified to the form [ gɑ ] at the beginning and varies between [Na ] and [ ɣa ] in the middle of the word.

The hand- acute (゜) does not occur with ka in normal Japanese texts. However, it is sometimes used by linguists to the nasal pronunciation [ Na] to suggest.

Importance in the Japanese grammar

か[ ka ] is the question most frequently used particles. It is also used to separate choices.

が[ ga ] is used to draw attention to a particular part of the sentence, especially for the grammatical subject.
