Kaarlo Soinio

Kaarlo Soinio (full name: Kaarlo Eino Kyosti Soinio alternatively: Karl Gustaf Salin; born January 28, 1888 in Helsinki, † October 24, 1960 ) was a Finnish football player, umpire and gymnasts as well as a sports reporter and sports teacher. He was the brother of Eino Soinio the longtime captain of the Finland national football team was.

Career

Football

Kaarlo Soinio played in his career as a football player at HJK Helsinki. With the club he was twice in a row; 1911 and 1912 the Finnish football championship win over the years. He played for the club mostly as a defender. With the Finnish national team he took to the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm part. In the tournament for football he was injured but only the first game against Italy contest. In the further course of the tournament the team lost which, among other things with his brother Eino and Gösta Löfgren ran against Great Britain in the semifinals. In the 3rd place match Finland lost against the Netherlands.

In 1920 Soinio served as referee the friendly international match between Finland and Estonia in Helsinki.

Gymnastics

With the Finnish equipment gymnasts he won in 1908 at the Summer Olympic Games in London, the Olympic bronze medal in the team all-around.

Sports teachers and sports reporter

Full-time Soinio worked as a sports teacher and later as a reporter for the sports section of Helsingin Sanomat. ( German Helsinki messages)
