Kabouter Wesley

Kabouter Wesley ( German: Gnome Wesley ) is a Belgian series of comics and short animated films about a bad-tempered and prone to violence Imp. The conceived and drawn by Jonas Geirnaert figure is extremely popular in Flanders and the Netherlands. Drawing style and content are deliberate naive and amateurish, the plot often surreal, violent and politically incorrect.

History

Geirnaert developed the figure Kabouter Wesley during the production of the animated short film Flatlife, in 2004 won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The comics were published in 2008 in the Belgian weekly magazine HUMO, the animation films in the broadcast by the Belgian TV station Eén satire show Man Bijt Hond. For the background music for the animated films Hammond organ pieces were used by Klaus Wunderlich.
