Having the best Estonian biathlete Eveli Saue after the 2010/11 season announced to take a break from competition due to stagnant performance and lack of support by the Estonian Association, thought also Lehtla due to internal problems with the Association and the coaching staff to end their career. A significant reason for this was the contract extension of the Estonian biathlon association with the Latvian Maris Cakars coach, who oversees the Estonian national biathlon team since May 2010. Already in the course of his first year in office, there were discrepancies between Cakars and the training group to Eveli Saue, Priit Viks and Kadri Lehtla who continued their cooperation with the Finnish shooting coach Asko Nuutinen also Cakars. Lehtla decided to continue their careers while, but decided not to participate in the first World Cup competitions and to motivate yourself instead with good and consistent results among the top ten in the IBU Cup again. This was taken in the Estonian Ski Association with displeasure. With a fourth place at the start of the IBU Cups 2011/12 in Ostersund Lehtla proved, however, that their decision was right and its goal of a podium finish in the IBU is achievable. At her previous best career result she sat by in a field of over 100 athletes among others against well-known competitors such as Andrea Henkel and Vita Semerenko. The Biathlon World Championships 2012 in Ruhpolding Bavaria began for Lehtla warm in difficult weather conditions with a 43rd place in the sprint competition. In pursuit competition, she was taken by Svetlana Slepzowa who lost his balance in a curve to the case and finished with seven penalties, a disappointing for her 53rd and last place on the grid. However, in the individual competition she was able to continue with a 22nd place on the good finishes the past few weeks. With her best career result to date in a single competition she placed among other things, the world champions of the previous two competitions Magdalena Neuner and Darya Domratschawa and thus secured the 26th place in the World Cup overall rating of the individual competitions. The joy of this result, however, lasted only briefly, because she was informed shortly after the race that they can participate in the World Cup Final in Khanty-Mansiysk due. The Estonian head coach Cakars declared that he will want to start with the desire Lehtlas at the World Cup finals did not know, although this at a joint meeting on the authority of Kadri Lehtla - in which also the Estonian FA president Aivar Nigol and an interpreter were present - committed in December been. Cakars stated to be able to send because of the financial situation of only three athletes to Khanty -Mansiysk. The best Estonian biathlete of the season would have to raise € 400 with the help of private sponsors to participate in the competitions in Siberians can. Cakars further stated that he had asked Lehtla at the beginning of the season several times not to start at the IBU Cup but the World Cup and that it is not promising now, in the last World Cup competition to seek a place among the top 30. However, for men it would be possible to secure a fourth place for the coming season. A few days later, the president of the Estonian Biathlon Association Aivar Nigol admitted that he made a mistake and also to have left upon departure after Ruhpolding in faith Lehtla to be able to start in Khanty-Mansiysk. About the ultimate team's formation, but decide still the coach. On her last time of the season 2011/12, the relay competition at the World Championships, Lehtla could convince again despite the public clash with the association leadership. With a good running and shooting performance led the Estonian season on a meantime eighth place. At the end of the season came in 14th place. Although Lehtla did not participate in 10 World Cup competitions, they finished the season with a 48th place in the World Cup overall standings and thus its best-ever result, where they could triple their points won from the previous year. In the overall standings of the IBU Cups she was 16, which is also her best placement. After the World Cup season Lehtla started at the Estonian Championships in cross-country skiing. In the team sprint, she won the bronze medal together with Liis Kalda. They ran the fastest last lap and was the distance to the runner-up of 6 s to 0.6 s and reduce missed so narrowly the silver medal for their team. With the 3x5 km relay their cross-country sports clubs Sparta she won along with the Team Sprint winners of the previous day Piret Pormeister and Heidi Raju sovereign gold medal.

After they had prepared himself again in the summer of 2012 off the Estonian team for the new season, Lehtla started with a good 22 place in the 15 km individual competition in the 2012/13 season. They awarded only to a missed shot during the fourth and final shooting a top ten placement. Subsequently, however, bad placements followed far out of World Cup points. After surviving cold Lehtla launched in early January Otepaeae where IBU Cup competitions were held for the first time. When victory of Yekaterina Jurjewa in individual competition over 15 km they took fourth place in difficult wind conditions before the home crowd. So she put her best placement in a IBU Cup competition from the previous year.
