Kai Eckhardt

Kai Eckhardt - Karpeh de Camargo ( born June 15, 1961 in Mainz ) is a German jazz and fusion musician (bass guitar, composition ).

Eckhardt discovered only 15 years the electric bass. He studied from 1983 to 1987 at the Berklee College of Music, which gave him upon completion of his studies a teaching position. During his studies he has performed with Bob Moses, Tiger Okoshi and Torsten de Winkel. He also played with Alphonse Mouzon, Randy Brecker and Stanley Clarke. 1988 brought him John McLaughlin in his trio with Trilok Gurtu, with whom he went on international tour and two albums grossed. In addition, he performed with Michael Gibbs. He then worked in the bands of Billy Cobham and of Aziza Mustafa Zadeh. 1995 he also worked with Mike Mainieris " Steps Ahead " and founded with Paul McCandless, Kit Walker and Alan Hall, the group "Three of Worlds". On his debut album " Honour Simplicity, Respect the Flow" Aydın Esen, Courtney Pine and Zakir Hussain were involved. He then worked with Garaj Mahal. He currently directs the fusion band Area 61 He worked for Thilo Berg, Edo Zanki, Maria João, Ralph Towner, Wayne Shorter, Dewey Redman, Donald Byrd, Rhiannon and the meters and composed of Bobby McFerrin's " Voicestra ".

Eckhardt has lived in California since the mid-1990s.
