Kakhi Asatiani

Kachi Asatiani (Georgian კახი ასათიანი; Russian Кахи Шалвович Асатиани / kachi Schalwowitsch Asatiani known; * January 1, 1947 in Telavi, † 20 November 2002 in Tbilisi ) was a Soviet- Georgian football players, coaches, politicians and managers.

The long-time player of Dinamo Tbilisi began with the Soviet national football team at the 1968 European Championship and the World Cup 1970 in part. In the opening game of the 1970 World Cup, he saw the first football player in history a yellow card, which was first in use during the tournament.

The late 60s and early 70s Asatiani was one of the best strikers of the Soviet football, 1973, he was injured in a championship game hard and never came in the form, so that he already had to stop at age 28 with the active sports. Overall, he played 16 times for the Sbornaja, scoring six goals. After his playing career, he was from 1978 to 1982 coaches and 1987 sports director of Dinamo Tbilisi.

From 1990 to 2000 Asatiani was president of the Georgian Sports Association. After he was briefly Georgian Minister for Sport and Tourism in the 1990s, he became Vice President of the largest Georgian airline Airzena ( now called Georgian Airways ), which he remained until his death. Asatiani was on the evening of November 20, 2002 shot on the street in Tbilisi. The perpetrators could not be identified.
