Kakiemon

As Kakiemon (Japanese柿 右卫门 様 式, Kakiemon Yoshiki, dt " Kakiemon - style " ) refers to certain Japanese porcelains and their European imitations which oriented to it. The name is derived from the family of Kakiemon Sakaida (酒井 田 柿 右卫门) near the town of Arita, Hizen province, who used his own style. The Kakiemon style is characterized by: sketchy lines, watercolor -like paint application and asymmetrical compositions, which can be large areas unpainted. Kakiemon porcelain is a sub-species of Arita porcelain.
