Kalle Anttila

Kaarlo " Kalle " Johan Jalmari Anttila ( born August 30, 1887 in Muhos; † January 1, 1975 in Helsinki) was a Finnish wrestler. He was two -time Olympic champion.

He struggled initially for the top club Helsingin Jyry, who belonged to the Finnish Workers Sports Federation ( TUL). From 1917 to 1929, he started for the club Helsingin Kisa - Veikot (short HKV ). Later, he was still active for the Helsingin Paini - Miehet and Oulu Sauva.

At the Summer Olympics in Antwerp in 1920 he won the gold medal. Over the next two years he was also champion at lightweight. Anttila was very good in both styles and won his Olympic medal in freestyle. In 1924, he became Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling before his compatriot Aleksanteri Toivola and Sweden Erik Malmberg. After his athletic career, he was a businessman with a private company ( Kalle Anttila Oy).
