The Wester Kalle in Hohenhausen

The Kalle is a 19.6 km long, orographic left tributary of the Weser river in North Rhine -Westphalia. It arises as an Easter Kalle at the foothills of the Weser mountain country. With the opening of the 9.9 km long Wester Kalle the river is named after a river distance of 15.7 km Kalle.

Location

The Kalle is located in the district of Lippe at the foothills of the Weser mountain country. Near the village Kalldorf it opens shortly after the union of the source streams at an altitude of about 48 meters above sea level east of the small town Vlotho into the Weser.

It consists of the two source streams Wester Kalle, also called the upper reaches Kallbach, and Easter Kalle.

The Wester Kalle rises about 2.5 kilometers south of Hohenhausen at an altitude of about 190 meters and to the Weser, a length of about 12 kilometers. The length of slightly longer Easter Kalle is from the source to mouth of the Weser River about 16 kilometers. It rises at an altitude of about 240 meters southeast of the village Lüdenhausen.
