Kanat Islam

Hanati Silamu (also Қанат Исләм or Qanat islam, * September 13, 1984 in Altay, Xinjiang Uigur ) is a Chinese boxer. He won a bronze medal in the welterweight division at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Career

Hanati Silamu is a member of the Kazakh ethnic minority in China. He started as a teenager with the boxes. In 1997 he was admitted to a regional boxing school in Xinjiang and trained there. In 2000, he won his first championship in Xinjiang and in 2003 he was first Chinese welterweight champion. His coach is Abulimuke Abuderexiti.

In 2004 he qualified in Guangzhou at the Asian Olympic elimination welterweight for the Olympic Games in Athens. In Athens, he won his first fight against Sadat Tebazaalwa from Uganda on points. In the second round, but he was eliminated by a point loss to Ruslan Chairow from Azerbaijan and arrived on the 9th Place.

In 2005 Hanati Silamu again Chinese welterweight champion and was used at the World Championships this year in Mianyang. In 2006 he took part in the Asian Games in Doha. He won there over Dilbag Singh from India and Bohzedbek Yunusow from Uzbekistan respectively on points. In the semifinals, he lost to Baqit Sarsekbajew from Kazakhstan on points ( 30:37 ) and thus won the bronze medal but his first medal at an international championship.

The same medal won Hanati Silamu even at the Asian Championships in 2007 in Ulaanbaatar. He suggested welterweight Morteza Sepahvandi, Iran and again Bohzedbek Yunusow on points, before losing on points just ( 20:23 ) in the semifinal against Maongontsooj Nandin - Erdene of Mongolia. In the same year he also launched at the World Championships in Chicago. He was able to fully convince and defeated with Bohzedbek Yunusow ( 22:16 ), Gerard O'Mahony, Australia ( 23:17 ), Ruslan Chairow ( 26:6 ) and Baqit Sersekbajew ( 20:14) four very strong boxer. In 2008 he won the Kings Cup in Bangkok in the final of Weltergewichtes about Baqit Sarsekbajew by points ( 14:8 ), the Beijing Olympic champion should be in this weight class later.
