Kannagawa Hydropower Plant

F1

  • Minamiaiki Dam on the river Minamiaiki -gawa
  • Ueno Dam on the river Kanna- gawa
  • Currently: 1 × 470 MW = 470 MW
  • Planned: 6 × 470 MW = 2820 MW

The Kannagawa pumped storage power plant (Jap.神 流川 発 电 所, Kannagawa hatsudensho, dt "Kraftwerk Kannagawa ") is a property under construction pumped storage power plant of Tōkyō Denryoku (or Tokyo Electric Power Company ( Tepco )) at Minamiaiki in Nagano Prefecture and Ueno in Gunma in Japan. The hydroelectric power plant uses the difference in height between a lower and an upper pool, which are formed by two dams. The upper is the Minamiaiki Dam on the river Minamiaiki -gawa and the lower the Ueno Dam on the river Kanna- gawa. The power plant will get six pump-turbines and generators rated at 470 MW, 2820 MW can make together. So far, a machine unit has been put into operation in 2005 only. If it about 2020Vorlage: 's future / completed in five years, the power plant will have the greatest performance of a pumped storage power plant that exist on Earth.

Construction

In July 1993, the Kannagawa Hydropower Planning Office was established in July 1995 and the plant was approved. In May 1997, construction began. In October 2003, we began to einzustauen the lower basin to the Ueno Dam and next year also filled the Minamiaiki reservoir. Both dams were completed in 2004 and also the upper basin was completed in 2004, dammed.

Hydroelectric power station

The underground power station is located less than 500 meters underground and is 216 m long, 33 m wide and 51 m high. It is six pump turbines with 470 MW have power, providing a total capacity of 2,820 MW. The water flows from the upper Minamiaiki Basin through the power plant, where it generates electricity from Ueno sub- basin. The pump can then pump turbines to be consumed off-peak times the water from the lower reservoir to the upper back. The connecting pipe is six kilometers long. The hydraulic height is 653 m and the maximum flow rate 510 m³ / s Machines Unit 1 began commercial operation in 2005 and the second unit is expected for 2012. The others will only go into operation in 2020.

The two dams

The upper Minamiaiki Dam is in the same community of Nagano Prefecture and is a 136 m high and 444 m long rockfill dam. It consists of 7.3 million cubic meters of fill material and accumulates a 19.17 million m³ large reservoir on. Will be fed to the part of the Shinano River system by the river Minamiaiki -gawa. ( The coordinates refer to the Minamiaiki Dam. )

The lower Ueno Dam in the eponymous municipality of Gunma Prefecture is a 120 m high and 350 m long concrete gravity dam. It consists of 720,000 cubic meters of concrete and has a large reservoir is 18.4 million m³. And will be fed by the Kanna- gawa the Tone River system.
