Kansas Pacific Railway

The Kansas Pacific Railway was an American railway company.

Its origins lie in the Leavenworth, Pawnee and Western Railroad from 1855; In 1880 she went to the Union Pacific Railroad.

The work on the main route from Kansas City to the west of began in September 1863. The following year, the first 64 km were up to Lawrence in operation. In the fall of 1866, the track reached as far as Junction City; there an engine shed was built. Backed by investors from Germany began work on the extension of the line to Colorado in October 1869. In March 1870, the track was enough to Kit Carson (Colorado).
