Kanysh Satbayev

Qanysch Îmantajuly Sätbajew (born 31 Märzjul / April 12 1899greg in Pavlodar region, .. † January 31, 1964 in Moscow) was a geologist, one of the founders of the Soviet and Kazakh Economic Geology, Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, the first president the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.

Biography

Sätbajew comes from the Aul No. 4 in today's Bayanaul in Pavlodar. In 1921, he became acquainted with the Russian professor Mikhail Antonovich Usov from Tomsk know. Conversations with Prof. USOV aroused his interest in geology, and he began studying at the Technological Institute of Tomsk. Later he returned to his homeland.

Merits

  • Discovery of the largest copper deposits in the area between Ulutau and Schesqasghan
  • Discovery of manganese ores in Kazakhstan during the Second World War (important for the armored steel production, in those years came about 70 % of the manganese from the discovered Sätbajew deposit )
