Kaoru Ikeya

Kaoru Ikeya (Japanese池 谷 薫; born November 30, 1943) is a Japanese amateur astronomer.

He discovered 1963-1967 five comets, including the 1965 visible with the naked eye Sungrazer Ikeya - Seki. In 2002, Ikeya discovered the periodic comet 153P/Ikeya-Zhang and 2010 the comet C/2010 V1 ( Ikeya - Murakami ).

In his honor, the asteroid ( 4037 ) Ikeya was named.
