Kaputt is the ninth studio album by the Canadian indie-pop band Destroyer. It was released on 25 January 2011 on Merge Records. However, it leakte already towards the end of 2010. The third side of the vinyl edition of the album includes several bonus tracks of many times Destroyer collaborator Ted Bois.

On June 16, 2011 Broken was filed as one of 40 nominees for the Polaris Music Prize 2011. On July 6, the album was then already with only nine other albums on the shortlist for the prize.

Reception

The album largely received positive reviews. Pitchfork Media awarded 8.8 out of 10 and the attribute " Best New Music" of the plate, whereas the Rolling Stone awarded 3.5 out of 5 stars on the album.

On time online Sebastian Handke writes on 7 February 2011:

" The solitude that speaks of this music, is not it ironic and decadent as formerly, but gentle, ambiguous, animated by a peculiar shrouded passion. It is an appropriation of Glam, as only is possible in 2011. , With all the influences of new folk and indie rock [ ... ]
