Karataş ( Turkish for black stone ) is a city in the province of Adana in Turkey, on the Mediterranean Sea, located at the southernmost point of the Çukurova plain. Karataş located 47 kilometers south of Adana and has 8,590 inhabitants. The population of the district is 21,203 (as of 2011 ).

Nearby is the ancient Magarsos ( the port of Mallos ) at the ancient mouth of Ceyhan in the Gulf of İskenderun.

Twinning

It is twinned with Memmingen. In Memmingen a road in the industrial area north was named after Karataş, in Karataş there since 2001 Memmingen Bulvarı With a Mediterranean beach.
