Karel Berman
Karel Berman ( born April 14, 1919 in Jindřichův Hradec ( Neuhaus German ); † August 11, 1995 in Prague) was a Czech opera singer ( bass) and composer of Jewish descent.
Life
Karel Berman was deported in March 1943 in the Theresienstadt concentration camp. He participated as a singer, composer and conductor in cultural life. So he brought on 11 July 1944 along with Rafael Schachter ) on Four Songs on Chinese Poetry by Pavel Haas words for the first time. In Viktor Ullmann 's opera Der Kaiser von Atlantis, he sang the role of death in the dress rehearsal. He survived the storage time and later became known as an opera singer.
