Karel Lang

Karel Lang ( born June 9, 1958) is a former Czech professional ice hockey goaltender who played in Krefeld from 1990 to 2001.

Career

In 1978, he began his career at Zetor Brno. He moved in 1979 for a year to HC Dukla Trenčín, but soon returned to Brno. Until 1988 he remained there before he moved to the 1989/90 season in the 2nd Bundesliga EV Stuttgart.

From there he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga Nord to Krefeld EV. Long helped the CEC in the 1990/91 season for promotion to the 1st Hockey League. Until 2001, he played in Krefeld and was called there because of its very good reflexes " The Witcher ".

His jersey number 1 has been banned in honor of him at the Krefeld Penguins. On May 3, 2013 announced the Krefeld Penguins that his son Luke, who is also ice hockey goaltender, has signed a contract until 2014. Luke will wear in honor of his father's shirt number 1.

From 2002 to 2005, Karel Lang goalkeeper coach of the Krefeld Penguins, goalkeeper coach young talent at all ages of the Krefeld EV 81 and coach of the boys' B team KEV 81 As a player, he was never German master, this he achieved in the 2002/03 season as goalkeeping coach the Krefeld penguins.

From January 2006 he was Goalkeeper Coach of the Duisburg Foxes and from March 2006 to 6 October 2006, he was there also worked as an assistant coach. After a 14-day leave of absence due to an internal consolidation of the EV Duisburg, he was appointed on 20 October 2006 again as a goalkeeper coach in the coaching staff. On 27 January 2008 he was appointed head coach of the foxes. On 16 September 2008, he resigned from his coaching job, and was succeeded by Didi nurture. However, he was assistant coach of the foxes. On January 7, 2009 Non occurred - along with the entire line of sporty Foxes - back.

On 2 March 2007 he was again in a DEL game in goal. 49 seconds before the end of the match against Straubing he came on the ice and thus broke the held by the former Wolfsburg goalkeeper Kevin McGibney up to that age record. This was a 46 -year-old used once and is still active in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Since September 2010, Karel Lang coached the seniors team of Grefrather EC, which currently plays in the Regionalliga West.

Internationally

Lang took part for the Czechoslovak national ice hockey team at the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid and several ice hockey world championships.
