Karelian hot pot

Karelian meat pot (Finnish: Karjalanpaisti, literally Karelian roast ) is a traditional Karelian stew. The main ingredients are meat into cubes (a mixture of beef, pork and lamb ), water, onions, salt, pepper and bay leaves.

It is essential in the preparation, that the temperature is low (about 100 degrees Celsius) and that the cooking time is as long as possible ( preferably overnight ). Earlier, the court was traditionally cooked in stone pots in the oven. Karelian meat pot is often served with boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce this is often served.

During the Karelian meat pot was previously known only in Karelia, the court is now spread throughout Finland and is now considered typical " Finnish court ".
