Karin Riis-Jørgensen

Karin Riis- Jørgensen ( born November 7, 1952 in Kerteminde ) is a Danish politician and from 1994 to 2009 Member of the European Parliament as MPs of the party Venstre.

Life

Riis- Jørgensen graduated in 1978 from a law degree. She was from 1979 to 1989 worked for the Association of Danish small and medium-sized enterprises in Copenhagen and Brussels. She worked from 1989 to 1994 as a department manager at Coopers & Lybrand.

She was vice-president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe and a representative of the Commission of Economy and Finance. She was also a representative of the Commission on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection and member of the delegation for relations with China and the United States.

Today she lives in Rome, where her husband is Birger Riis -Jørgensen, the Danish ambassador. The couple has two sons.
