Karkowo, Kołobrzeg County

Karkowo ( German Karkow ) is a village in the urban and rural community Gościno ( United Jestin ) in the powiat Kołobrzeski ( Kolberg ) of the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

The village is located in Eastern Pomerania, about 18 kilometers south of Kolobrzeg ( Kolberg) and 98 kilometers north-east of the regional capital Szczecin ( Szczecin).

History

Karkowo - as well as the neighboring Good Ramelow - were originally old fief of Blankenburg family that they had until the 19th century. 1853 Karkow passed into the possession of the Brüstlein family.

Before 1945, the village belonged to the district Karkow Kolberg- Körlin in the administrative region of Pomerania Pomerania. Towards the end of the Second World War, the region was occupied in May 1945 by the Red Army and then put together with all Pomerania under Polish administration. 2010 lived 89 people in Karkowo.
