Karl Galinsky

Karl Galinsky ( born February 7, 1942 in Strasbourg ) is an American classical philologist.

Galinsky, son of Americanists Hans Galinsky, grew up in Alsace and Germany. He attended the grammar school in Mainz until graduation in 1961. Subsequently he went to study in the United States. His Master (1965) and doctoral degree ( 1966) he received from Princeton University. Since 1966 he teaches at the University of Texas in Austin, where the "Floyd A. Cailloux Centennial " Chair holds for archeology since 1991. He is particularly specialized in the Augustan era of Roman history.
