Karl Hubbuch

Life

The artist was was the son of Karlsruhe telegraph officials. Hubbuch attended the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, where he became friends with Rudolf Schlichter and Georg Scholz 1908-1912. He then studied at the School of the Museum of Applied Arts in Berlin under Emil Orlik, at the same time as George Grosz there was a student.

He went in 1914 volunteered for military and served as an artilleryman until 1918. 1920 to 1922 he was a master student at Walter Conz and Ernst Wuertenberger in Karlsruhe. In 1922, he studied again at Orlik, this time at the Prussian Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. 1924 began Hubbuch to teach lithography at the Academy in Karlsruhe, in 1928 appointed him full-time professor. 1925 to 1933 he was a professor in Karlsruhe. In 1957 he retired from his professorship, but participated in the 1960s and 1970s still active in numerous exhibitions in Europe. In 1965 he was guest of honor at the Villa Massimo in Rome.

1970 Hubbuch almost blind and manufactured until his death no further works more.

Performance
