Karl Jaspers Prize

The Karl Jaspers Prize is usually awarded every three years by the city of Heidelberg and the Heidelberg University. It was founded in 1983 on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Karl Jaspers and was endowed with prize money of 5000 €. 2013, the prize money was increased to 25,000 euros. The selection committee consists of the Rector of the University, two personalities, who are elected by the municipal council of the city, a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences, and the Heidelberg-based Max Planck Institutes, the Rector of the College of Jewish Studies and the chairman of the Karl Jaspers Foundation in Basel. To be honored interdisciplinary services in the fields of philosophy and psychiatry.
