Karl Ludwig Friedrich Hetsch

Carl Ludwig ( " Louis " ) Friedrich Hetsch (* April 26, 1806 in Stuttgart, † June 28, 1872 in Mannheim, Germany ) was a German composer.

Hetsch studied at the Protestant Foundation in Tubingen, was in Stuttgart choir director and then went for further music education in Vienna. Later, he was music director of the University of Heidelberg and from 1846 court music in Mannheim. He was a composer of sacred and romantic songs. With the poet Moerike, whose poems he set to music, he formed a lifelong friendship. Moerike devoted Hetsch his novella Mozart on the trip to Prague ( 1855). From his stage works the romantic opera Ryno was premiered in 1833 at the Stuttgart Court Theatre. Hetsch was the son of a teacher Karl August von Zoller.
