Karl Schnabl

Karl Schnabl ( born March 8, 1954 in Achomitz, community Hohenthurn, Carinthia ) was an Austrian ski jumper successful.

Sports career

The Springer talent of the bilingual club sports club Achomitz / Športno društvo Zahomec with the famous club coach Franz Wiegele was discovered in 1970 by the then Austrian Ski Coach Baldur Preiml and brought into the Skigymnasium in Stams (Tirol ). There he was soon able to come up with good performances. A few years later Karl Schnabl and Anton were Innauer had formed the protagonists of the Austrian ski jumping miracle team of the 1970s, the Professor Baldur Preiml together with Alois Lipburger, Willi Pürstl and Reinhold Bachler. In the season 1974/1975 Karl Schnabl was the most successful ski jumpers of the world's elite. Also 1975/1976 he dominated the ski circus.

After numerous individual wins and a third place at the Ski Flying World Championships in Kulm Schnabl drove in 1976 as one of the favorites for the Olympic Games in Innsbruck.
